In a warm-up for the upcoming Bay Colony Conference Championships this weekend, the girls and boys swimming and diving teams split the final two meets of the regular season. The Whalers defeated conference opponent Taunton on the road Saturday before falling to non-league Duxbury at home Sunday.

At Taunton Saturday, the Whalers’ times were slightly below par, but the girls picked up an easy 56-37 win and the boys won 51-43. Against Duxbury Sunday, the Nantucket boys made things interesting for the 10-1 Green Dragons, losing in the final race of afternoon to fall 94-88. The 11-0 Duxbury girls’ team had no trouble dismissing the Whalers, 99-67.

Nantucket closed out the regular season with the boys locked into second place in the Bay Colony Conference at 6-1 (6-3 overall), while the girls finished third at 4-2 (4-4 overall).

The Whalers will travel to Sandwich Sunday for the league championships. The boys will compete in the morning session with the girls following in the afternoon.
