(Jan. 14, 2010) The varsity boys basketball team could not get it done this week, losing two games at home, including a crucial loss to Lighthouse Conference foe Cape Cod Academy last Wednesday, 62-42.
“That is a tough loss for us, but we have to find a way to beat them at their place,” head coach Beau Almodobar said.
The Whalers, who fell to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the league, have not lost to Cape Cod Academy since 2005, which was also the last time the squad lost any Lighthouse Conference games. Nantucket finished 3-3 in the league that season and 4-16 overall. In order to earn a piece of the conference title for the fifth year in a row, the Whalers must defeat the Seahawks in the rematch Feb. 1.
