Lindsay Fry fights for the offensive rebound in the second half of Saturday’s game against South Shore Voke. The Whalers defeated the Vikings 56-21 for their second straight victory coming off back-to-back losses at the Cohasset Tournament in late December.

(Jan. 14, 2010) Following back-to-back losses for the first time since January 2006, the varsity girls basketball team got back on track this week with two easy victories, defeating league foe Cape Cod Academy 58-24 and South Shore Voke 56-21.

“We have had a good week of practice this week. They seem like they are starting to gel a little bit better and it showed out there,” head coach Willis Ferreira said.

The Whalers, who improved to 4-2 overall (2-0 Lighthouse Conference), were looking to continue their winning streak when they matched up against recent postseason rival Sacred Heart yesterday, too late for this edition of Sports. Jess Halford took over handling the ball from the point.
