(Jan. 14, 2010) The junior varsity boys basketball team split two games at home this week, defeating Cape Cod Academy 38-30 last Wednesday before falling to South Shore Voke 51-37 Saturday.

After taking out the Seahawks with a hard-nosed defensive display, the Whalers (2-3) had control early against the Vikings, but fell out of their offensive rhythm in the second quarter en route to the loss.

“This is a game we should have won. We are going to go back to square one at practice and we are going to get over our fears of having the ball stolen from us and we are going to learn how to box out,” head coach John Stanton said.

Nantucket will have had an entire week of practice leading up to Friday’s game at Dennis-Yarmouth. The junior varsity squad will return home Saturday to host Hull before hitting the road again Monday at Sturgis.
