(Jan. 21, 2010) The varsity boys basketball team’s struggles continued this week as the Whalers lost two more games to extend their losing streak to six straight. Nantucket fell to Dennis-Yarmouth 52-28 on the road Friday afternoon and then to Hull 45-28 at home Saturday.

“We are just taking one game at a time and trying to be more physical. I like the way we are running our offense. I like the way we are running our defense. Sometimes things just aren’t going down for us,” head coach Beau Almodobar said.

The Whalers, who fell to 2-8 overall this season, have been losing the battle of the boards in most games, which, on the offensive end, is emphasizing their inability to convert easy baskets and subsequently score big points to keep pace with the opposition.

“They are playing with good effort. We are getting boxed out. We are not getting boards like we usually do. We don’t have a lot of size. We just have to patient. We are so young,” Almodobar said.
