(Jan. 21, 2010) The junior varsity boys basketball team lost two games this week, falling to Dennis-Yarmouth 52-28 on the road Friday and then Hull 45-28 at home Saturday.
The Whalers, who fell to 2-5 overall this season, will have had a week of practice before traveling to Mashpee Monday.
“We have seven games left and we are almost there as far as putting the whole effort together,” head coach John Stanton said. “It is just a matter of experience and it will all come together.”
Against Hull Saturday, the Whalers tried to play a man-to-man defense to push up the tempo, but ultimately fell behind early.
“They got up by a few and our offense couldn’t click. It put us in that 8- to 12-point black hole you fall into sometimes and it is hard to get out of,” Stanton said.
Nantucket switched back into its 2-3 zone and got back into the game 26-20 by the break.
