(Jan. 21, 2010)It was a split decision for the boys and girls swimming and diving teams this week. Nantucket easily swept wins from Bay Colony Conference opponent Sacred Heart Thursday before falling hard to non-league North Attleboro Saturday.
The boys, who beat Sacred Heart 91-60 and lost to North Attleboro 90-84, fell to 4-1 overall (4-0 BCC), while the girls, who beat the Fighting Saints 91-75 and lost to the Red Rocketeers 92-70, moved to 3-2 overall (3-1 BCC).
Both Nantucket squads are scheduled to host Nauset in a key conference clash Saturday afternoon. On the boys side, the Warriors come in as one of Nantucket’s toughest league competitors. If the Whalers can get by Nauset, Tuesday’s boys-only meet against Sandwich will determine the Bay Colony Conference crown.
The Whalers used last Saturday’s match-up against Division I and non-league North Attleboro as a primer for the league battle. The Red Rocketeers used to swim in the Bay Colony Conference, but left three years ago for the Hockomock League.
