Sturgis stomps JV boys

(Feb. 11, 2010) The junior varsity boys basketball team lost a physical game at Sturgis Tuesday night, 37-24.

The JV squad, which fell to 3-7 this season, has three games remaining on its schedule. Nantucket will host Mashpee tonight in the home finale before the Whalers hit the road to face South Shore Voke Sunday and Mashpee again Monday.

As has been the case in many games this season, the Whalers struggled to play a tough inside game to keep pace with their opponent.

“We don’t play hard enough. We don’t take the ball to the rim as hard as we can and when that happens, when we are soft going to the hoop, teams win the inside game,” head coach John Stanton said.
