The girls varsity lacrosse team played well in the first half against Bridgewater-Raynham Tuesday afternoon, but by the second half the Whalers could not keep pace with the surging Trojans, ultimately falling 12-7 in their first game following a 13-day spring break.
“They started off pretty well I thought for after vacation,” head coach Amy Knapp said. “The second half was awful from the beginning. (Bridgewater-Raynham) came out, they scored first and continued scoring and we couldn’t do anything.”
The team, which had not seen live game action since Tuesday, April 13 when it lost to Barnstable at home 17-6, fell to 2-6 overall this season. The Whalers were scheduled to host Cape Cod Academy yesterday, too late for this edition of Sports. The squad is hoping to pick up momentum and return to form when it travels to Barnstable Saturday and Plymouth South Monday.
“It is momentum and it is confidence and if we don’t get a win soon it’s going to be hard for us,” Knapp said.
