Playing without a single sub on the bench, the junior varsity girls lacrosse team lost at Cohasset Tuesday night, 16-2.
Isabel Goodnow scored once in each half to lead the Whalers in the scoring column as the squad fell to 0-6 this season.
“I think they adapted well because we didn’t have any subs and kids had to play positions they hadn’t played before,” coach Heather Williams said.
The Whalers struggled to pick up ground balls as the Skippers cruised to the 6-1 lead at the half.
Despite the lopsided score, goalie Kate Freed was solid in net.
“She came out of the cage. She was blocking shots. She was checking other players, going for loose balls, and charging out of the crease to make clears. She was playing an aggressive style of goalkeeping,” Williams said.
Stephanie Rezendes, Eve Manghis, Cara Garufi, Danielle Smith and Tasha Grosshans were solid in various spots all over the field.
Diana Puodziukynaite, Erin Holmes and Juliette LaFavre played well on low defense.
The Whalers are scheduled to visit Dartmouth this afternoon and host Bishop Stang Saturday.
