Boys soccer beats Cape Cod Academy, 2-0

It took a while to get things started, but once the boys varsity soccer team found an opening in the Cape Cod Academy defense, the Whalers capitalized and defeated their Lighthouse Conference foes 2-0 in the first game of the season Tuesday.

“It was such a great start to the season and the team just played so well and gelled together,” assistant coach Kevin Korn said.

The Whalers, who are scheduled to host Sturgis this afternoon in the home opener, took the first 30 minutes of the game to solve the Seahawks defense, scoring once in the first half and again in the second half to earn the victory.

“Out of the gates the guys just were knocking on the door constantly. They were playing a great game of possession, passing the ball around. It got frustrating. The defense was so big physically and we kept trying to go down the center and things kept getting broken up,” Korn said.
