(Sept. 24, 2009) After coasting easily through the first two games of the season, the varsity field hockey team was challenged this week, losing its first game at Marshfield 1-0 last Wednesday, before defeating Chatham easily 9-1 Friday and Fairhaven in a close 3-0 game Saturday.

Nantucket, which improved to 4-1 overall this season, has had the upper hand in all five games, including the loss at Marshfield, outscoring their opponents 35-2 through the first portion of the schedule.

The Whalers will have their hands full this week with difficult match-ups against Mashpee on the road this afternoon and Norwood at home Saturday.
