JV field hockey earns back-to-back shutouts

The junior varsity field hockey team won its first two games of the season this week with shutout victories over Fairhaven 6-0 at home Saturday and Marshfield 2-0 on the road Wednesday.

The Whalers (2-0) are scheduled to travel to Mashpee today before hosting Norwood at home Saturday afternoon.

Against Fairhaven at home Saturday, the JV squad played its best field hockey to date, scoring four times in the second half en route to the victory.

“They started off really slow and then as soon as they started beating them to the ball and working really hard, they kept pressuring the goalie and they just started rolling in,” head coach Luciana Moran said. “Our forwards, they definitely stayed more spaced out then they did against Marshfield. They were really strong.”
