In the final head-to-head competition of the season, the varsity golf team dropped a stroke-play match to Dennis-Yarmouth 218-251 Friday afternoon at Bass River Golf Club in Yarmouth.
The Division II Dolphins had little trouble handling the par-34 course.
“It is good for the guys to play teams like this where their low score is a 33. It brought out the best in our guys. It was our lowest combined scoring average of the year by far,” assistant coach Nate Roberts said.
Nantucket closed out the regular season at 8-3 overall. The Whalers will host the Sankaty Classic at Sankaty Head Golf Club Saturday morning and then travel to the annual Schoolboy Tournament at Bayberry Hills the following Friday, leading up to the Division III South Tournament at the end of the month.
