(Oct. 22, 2009) The varsity boys soccer team capped off the regular season home schedule with a victory over Bishop Connolly 4-1 Tuesday night under the lights.

The playoff-bound Whalers (9-3) mixed things up on the field, testing new formations for possible use in the postseason. With three attackers on the front line, Nantucket moved the ball more effectively toward the goal and created more chances to score in the victory.

“We changed our line-up in anticipation of this game. I felt like with what we were doing for the first eight or nine games of the season, we weren’t creating enough offense. Our midfielders were strong and were a lot of good individual players, but they didn’t have enough room to create on their own,” head coach Rich Brannigan said. “Today we decided we were going to open the field up, keep our regular defensive backs as the same formation, then change the midfield and the attack. I was really happy with what I saw.”
