(Oct. 22, 2009) After clinching its first-ever tournament berth last week, the varsity girls soccer team fell to Division II postseason-bound Scituate at home Saturday, 4-1.

With four games remaining on the regular-season schedule, the Division III Whalers (7-5-1) are in postseason preparation mode, using the final games to fine tune the personnel packages on the field.

The Whalers also have a few things to settle before the tournament. Number one on the list is taking down Sturgis Friday at home to complete a perfect Lighthouse Conference schedule. The Whalers beat the Storm 3-0 earlier in the season, but were stymied in the second half against a compact defense.

“I will present a team that will play in the playoffs. I will try to see if we can take our game to the next level and really play like a championship team that goes to the playoffs,” head coach Jorge Rojas said.
