(Oct. 29, 2009) The Norwood varsity boys soccer team came out with some intensity Monday afternoon and capitalized on two first-half goals to take down the Whalers 2-1 and earn a Division II postseason qualification.

The Whalers, who could not match the energy level in the non-league game, fell to 9-4 overall with three road games remaining on the regular-season schedule. Nantucket is scheduled to travel to Weston Saturday, Sturgis Monday and Coyle Cassidy Tuesday. The Division III South Sectional tournament pairings will be announced next Thursday.

After the game at Norwood, Whalers head coach Rich Brannigan met with his players to challenge their intensity level for the final stretch of the regular season.
