(Nov. 12, 2009)It was a quick first trip to the postseason tournament for the varsity girls soccer team, which lost in the first round at Cohasset Sunday, 10-0.

The ninth-seeded Whalers played a strong first half and trailed only 2-0 at the break before the eighth-seeded Skippers ran up the score against the Nantucket bench in the second half.

Despite the lopsided loss, the Whalers closed out the most successful season in program history with a 9-8-1 overall record.

“I was very proud of them. It was an amazing season. No one thought our roster was going to get that far and they proved if they come together and they love each other and play for each other, good things can happen,” head coach Jorge Rojas said.
