(Jan. 9, 2014) In a week where the boys varsity basketball team had to battle postponements and weather delays, the Whalers fell to non-league foe Bristol-Plymouth 51-29 Saturday on the road.

Nantucket was scheduled to play Pope John Paul II on the road last Friday and host Sturgis East Tuesday, but both games were postponed due to high winds.

Next up for the Whalers (1-4, 1-0 Cape & Islands League) is a busy week, with Upper Cape on the road tomorrow, Hull at home Saturday and Cape Tech on the road Monday.

Against B-P, Nantucket again fell victim to its tendency to open the game slowly. After the first quarter had ended the Whalers had only put three points on the scoreboard.
