(Jan. 10, 2013) The boys varsity basketball team split a pair of games this week, losing 50-46 to league rival Pope John Paul II on the road Friday and pounding Sturgis East 66-33 at home Tuesday.
The Whalers (4-3, 3-1 Cape & Islands League) are now scheduled to take to the road, facing Cape Cod Academy today, and Cape Cod Tech Monday.
In Tuesday’s game against Sturgis East, Nantucket maintained a 10-point-plus lead throughout the game, spreading the ball around as go-to big man Terrel Correia found himself double- and often triple-teamed. The 6’8” senior rose to the occasion nonetheless, scoring 15 points, pulling down 12 rebounds and blocking six shots. Junior Eustace Walker followed right behind, adding 12 points.
