Boys basketball pounds Sturgis East on the road

(Dec. 13, 2012) The boys varsity basketball team opened its season on the road Monday against league foe Sturgis East, beating the Storm 49-31.

The Whalers (1-0, 1-0 Cape & Islands League) were led by senior big man Terrel Correia, who dropped in 20 points, ripped down 12 rebounds and had five blocks against a much smaller Sturgis squad.

“Our strength was our big guy. That and our defense was pretty good,” head coach Willis Ferreira said of the 6’7” Correia.
