(Nov. 1, 2012) The boys varsity soccer team pulled out a thrilling 2-1 victory over Martha’s Vineyard last Thursday in its last game of the regular season, coming back from a 1-0 deficit and scoring the game-winning goal in the final minute of play.

The win gave the team a 13-1-2 regular-season record and the top seed in the Div. 3 South sectional tournament. The Whalers on Sunday are scheduled to host the winner of the Westport/Bristol-Plymouth preliminary-round game.

In the match against the Vineyard, the Whalers trailed 1-0 for the majority of the game, but with roughly 20 minutes of action left, co-captain Nick Larrabee went down after a head-on-head collision with a Vineyard attacker.
