(Sept. 22. 2011 )The varsity field hockey team grabbed its first wins of the season this week, and did so in emphatic fashion with a 5-0 victory over Fairhaven Saturday and a 10-1 thumping of Hull Monday.

The Whalers are now 2-2 after opening the season with a pair of one-goal losses against tough Div. I opposition.

Next up, Nantucket is scheduled to travel to Sandwich Friday, before hosting Hull Saturday and heading back on the road to East Bridgewater Monday.

In its first game of the week, Nantucket finally got a victory over a traditionally tough opponent in Fairhaven.

“We looked good right from the start,” head coach Lori Moran said. “We took it to them very quickly and got some very pretty passes. The whole forward line was very in tune.”
