(Nov. 1, 2012) With a 6-2 victory over Nauset on the road last Thursday, the varsity field hockey team locked up the seven seed in the Div. 2 South sectional tournament and will host Scituate on Friday at 2:30 p.m.

Although Scituate (9-4-6) comes into the contest with a worse record than Nantucket (12-3-1), head coach Lori Moran is not taking the Sailors lightly.

“They’re going to be good, they play a lot of tough teams, they tied the Vineyard and play pretty-decent caliber teams all year long,” she said. Home-field advantage will be extremely important for Nantucket, as Scituate plays its home games on turf and will have to adjust to the slower speed of play on natural grass.
