(Nov. 8, 2012) The varsity field hockey team saw its 2012 season come to an end Friday in the first round of the Div. 2 South sectional tournament, as the Whalers fell 2-0 to 10th-seeded Scituate. The Whalers, who earned the seventh seed in the playoffs, finished the season with a 12-4-1 record.
“When you have a winning season and you make the tournament, it’s always a good season. Do I think we went out too early? Yes, I knew it was a tough draw when we got them. I don’t think we played our best game, not that they didn’t play hard. They just didn’t play their best, and they needed to in order to move on,” head coach Lori Moran said.
With starting goalie Logan Larrabee out with an illness, Nantucket’s backup goalie, Christine Sisson, was thrown into the fire, making her first start of the season in the playoffs. Sisson played a solid game, and certainly was not the reason the Whalers did not advance.
