(Oct. 4, 2012) On just the third play from scrimmage Saturday, Millis quarterback Sean Heffernan connected on a 53-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Angel and the Mohawks never looked back as they cruised past Nantucket 33-7 at Vito Capizzo Stadium.
Solving the Millis defense was a huge problem for the Whalers, who had a significant size disadvantage on the offensive line. Nantucket was unable to move the ball consistently the entire game except for a stat-padding 80-yard drive capped by a 54-yard touchdown run by Hunter Gray late in the fourth quarter when most of Millis’ second team was on the field.
After coming off last week’s game against Bishop Connolly, in which Nantucket rushed for 243 yards and four touchdowns, the offense couldn’t find any openings and had just 38 yards rushing until the final drive of the game. Quarterback Bryan Depass didn’t fare any better, going 2-for-10 for 12 yards and two interceptions in the game.
