Future Whalers? Club team dominating opposition

(Nov. 15, 2012) Nantucket High School foot­ball fans may want to circle the 2016 season on their calendars.That would be the year, if all goes according to plan, that the current crop of eighth-grade students who play for the undefeated Boys & Girls Club team will be seniors. And if the success that this team has had at the middle-school level can even come close to translating to high school, Whaler fans will be in for quite an entertaining year.

“For a handful of years at the club we had the (2011 Super Bowl­winning senior class) that gradu­ated last year. Guys like Taylor Hughes, Alex Rezendes, Codie Perry, Andrew Benson. I had great rapport with those kids. They were an awesome group. They’re right there neck and neck with these guys, but to be honest with you I have to give the advantage to this team,” head coach Paul Boucher said.
