(Jan. 10, 2013) The girls varsity basketball team notched a win and a loss this week, overwhelming Sturgis East 55-21 on the road Tuesday, after falling 53-39 to Pope John Paul II at home Friday.
The Whalers (4-2, 3-1 Cape & Islands League) have a busy home schedule on tap, as they are scheduled to host Cape Cod Academy today, Cohasset Saturday, Cape Tech Monday and Monomoy Wednesday.
Nantucket started slowly Tuesday on the road, but adjusted quickly by pressing the Storm and racking up 27 steals and numerous transition layups. The girls led 14-8 after the first quarter and outscored the Storm 20-3 in second, heading to the locker room with a 34-11 halftime lead.
