(Feb. 7, 2013) The girls varsity basketball team had another strong week, hammering league opponent Sturgis West 49-19 at home Monday and avenging an earlier loss to Norfolk Aggie with a 40-35 win on the road Saturday.
The postseason-bound Whalers (11-5, 8-1 Cape & Islands League) have a week off before taking to the road for their final two games of the regular season, against Cape Tech Monday, and nonleague powerhouse Cohasset Wednesday.
Monday night’s final home game of the season opened with senior recognition, as captain Kate Freed and Taylor Jemison, alongside their parents, were honored at center court. Nantucket then went on to thrash the Navigators for the second time this season.
