(Nov. 8, 2012) The girls varsity soccer team’s roller-coaster playoff ride came to an end Tuesday at home in a thrilling 3-2 overtime loss to Abington High School in the Div. 3 South quarterfinals.
It was the second playoff game in a row for the Whalers that required extra time to settle, as they edged Old Colony 2-1 in overtime Sunday.
The Whalers, who finished the season 10-6-2, led 2-0 for most of the first half against Abington, thanks to senior captain Alexa Crosby. The last time Crosby played on her home turf, she left the field frustrated, unable to score in a 0-0 tie against Martha’s Vineyard.
