(Sept. 19, 2013) The girls varsity soccer team’s 35-game unbeaten streak (34-0-1) in the Cape & Islands League came to an end on Tuesday in a 3-2 match on the road against a senior-laden Cape Cod Academy team. The girls also lost 3-1 to Archbishop Williams on Saturday on the road.
The Whalers (2-3 overall, 2-1 C&I League) will look to put an end to their two-game losing streak with a match today at home against league-rival Pope John Paul II at 3:45, a team that tied the Whalers at the end of the season last year.
In the game against Cape Cod Academy on Tuesday, the Whalers were already shorthanded with two starters off-island on a school trip when Kate Daniels left the game with a knee injury early in the first half and did not return. Her status going forward is uncertain, head coach Jorge Rojas said.
