(Sept. 19, 2013) The varsity golf team won a nail-biter against Sturgis East on the road on Tuesday and then lost to the Pope John Paul II Lions, 29.5-24.5 in the home-opener at Miacomet Golf Course yesterday.

It was the second loss of the season against Pope John Paul for Nantucket (1-3), and head Coach Peter MacKay said that while the Lions are the class of the Cape & Islands League, there will be a heated showdown for second place in the league between the Whalers, Cape Cod Academy and Sturgis East.
