Nantucket’s varsity gymnastics squad fell to Somerset in its first home meet of the season Saturday, 125.2-95.5.
The team (0-3) is next scheduled to compete against Carver at home on Saturday.
Whaler captain Melissa Waine had a strong performance in all four events against Somerset, scoring a total of 25 points.
Waine scored a 7.4 on the vault, 4.7 on the bars, 6.9 on beam, and 6.0 in the floor exercise.
Tiffani Montijo had team-highs in both the floor (6.5) and vault (7.3). Montijo also competed in the bars with a score of 4.6, nearly a full point higher than her previous best this season.
Junior Kelee Lawrence, who didn’t compete in last week’s tri-meet due to illness, was healthy for this contest and scored a 7.3 on the vault and a 6.1 on her floor routine.
Junior Katie McGrath did well in the three events she competed in, scoring 7.0 on the vault, 4.8 on bars and a 5.7 on her floor routine.
Freshman Chelsea Reynolds competed in the floor for the first time and scored a 5.3. She also scored a 4.1 on the beam.
Freshmen Melissa Holdgate and Nicole Michetti also performed well. Holdgate scored a 4.6 on the floor and 4.5 on the bars, while Michetti scored 4.8 on the beam and 4.1 on the bars.
