(Jan. 9, 2014) The varsity hockey team dropped its sixth straight game of the season Saturday night, losing 6-3 to the Diman Bengals before a small home crowd.

The Whalers (0-6, 0-5 Mayflower Athletic Conference) were also scheduled to play Mashpee on the road last Thursday, but the game was postponed due to inclement weather associated with winter storm Hercules. The Whalers were also scheduled to play Southeastern on the road yesterday, too late for this edition of Sports, followed by Sacred Heart on the road next Wednesday.

On Saturday, the play on the ice proved to be stormy as well, as the two teams amassed a total of 22 penalties: nine for Nantucket and 13 for the Bengals.
