(April 4, 2013) The varsity softball team got contributions from its entire lineup, and strong pitching from first-time starter Sam Nipatnantaporn, in beating Mashpee 12-6 on the road in its seasonopener Tuesday.

The 1-0 Whalers, who will spend the majority of the early part of the season on the road, are scheduled to face Nauset tomorrow, Westport Saturday and Sturgis East Tuesday, all off-island.

“It went pretty well. We played great on kind of a tough day,” head coach Chris Maury said of the season- opener. “It was cold and windy, but I thought the kids hung in there great.”
