(Jan. 10, 2013) The boys varsity swimming and diving team finished first and the girls second in the seventh annual Cape Cod Classic swimming and diving meet Saturday, as six Bay Colony Conference teams went head to head at the Nantucket Community Pool.
The boys scored 95 points, followed by Sandwich (80), Barnstable (75), Nauset (71) and Martha’s Vineyard (6). Nauset dominated the girls’ meet with a score of 117, but the Whalers finished solidly in second place with 87 points, ahead of Barnstable (67), Sandwich (53) and Pope John Paul II (6).
Prior to the holidays, the Whalers met Coyle and Cassidy High School Dec. 20 in Taunton, with both the boys (2-0 BCC) and girls (2-0 BCC) handily winning the dual meet that took place in a challenging venue: a four-lane pool where only the top three places score points.
