(Jan. 17, 2013) The varsity swimming and diving teams cruised to victory this week, with the girls easily handling Pope John Paul II last Thursday, and both squads winning against Martha’s Vineyard Saturday.
The boys (3-0 Bay Colony Conference) and girls (4-0 BCC) were scheduled to travel to perennial league powerhouse Nauset yesterday, too late for this edition of Sports, but the meet was postponed to a date and time to be announced due to inclement weather. They are also scheduled to face Sacred Heart Friday on the road.
Last Thursday’s meet at home against Pope John Paul II was a girls-only affair, but the Nantucket boys participated in an exhibition/time-trial format in an effort to create competitive internal match-ups, set postseason qualifying times and give the girls a rest between events.
