(Feb. 21, 2013) Led by sophomore Sophie Davies’ third-place finish in diving, the girls varsity swim team finished 14th out of 35 teams in the Div. 2 state championships Saturday at Springfield College. The boys team failed to score a point and did not place at their state championship meet Sunday at Harvard.
Nantucket sent eight girls to Springfield, and scored a combined 47 points on the day. The 200-Yard Medley Relay team of Alex Shannon, Frances Steadman, Cara Garufi and Davies finished 12th (1:59.25) to earn 10 points. In the 50 Free, Davies and Garufi posted season-best times of 25.54 and 26.09 respectively, with Davies taking 11th place for six points.
