Girls lacrosse victorious in final two regular-season games

By Allison Goldsmith
I&M Sports Editor

It was a daunting end to the season for the girls varsity lacrosse team, but the Whalers responded with five wins over a seven-game stretch, including two this week over Cape Cod Academy 11-3 and Bishop Stang 12-11 to close out the regular season and head into the postseason on a winning note.

Nantucket finished with an overall record of 13-4 (6-4 in the Maritime League) and was awarded the second seed in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Division II South sectional tournament.

Nantucket was scheduled to host Medway yesterday, too late for this edition of Sports. For complete coverage of the game, see the story in the front section of this week’s Inquirer and Mirror.
