Dolphins swipe second place in SEMSL swim championships

The Nantucket Dolphins swim team finished second out of five teams at the Southeastern Massachusetts Swim League championships held Saturday at the Nantucket Community Pool.

Nantucket finished with 1,726 total points behind first-place Marshfield, which finished well ahead of the pack with 2,052 points. Willy’s East came in third with 867 followed by Sandwich at 496 and Turbo at 486.

“We did finish in second place which is what we were kind of expecting. Marshfield has always been the strong team in the league. They came over with 90 swimmers and we had 71 competing. In terms of individual performances, it was great to see at a year-end meet like this, kids dropping times like they did,” head coach Jim Pignato said.
