The Dolphins swim team lost its first head-to-head meet of the season at Marshfield Sunday, 677-304. The home club’s swimmers outnumbered the visiting Nantucket team 80 to 47 and used that edge to its advantage as the Dolphins have in the past.

The two teams were unable to complete the last five events because of time constraints with the pool’s availability, Dolphins head coach Jim Pignato said.

The Dolphins pulled in 15 first-place finishes in the meet including a new team record. Miles Geddes, Henry Blackwell, Jack Decker and Jackie Trudel broke their own team-best time, swimming the 11- and 12-year-old boys 200-yard medley relay in two minutes, 22.94 seconds, good for first place.

Among the other first-place finishes Sunday, in the 8-and-under division, Sophie Kuhl earned top honors twice, winning the 25-yard freestyle in 17.56 and the 25-yard breaststroke in 23.97. Marcus Allen also won the 25-yard freestyle in 20.91.

In the 9- and 10-year-old division, Nicole Gottlieb finished first in the 25-yard butterfly in 16.22 and Xander Raith won the 50-yard breaststroke in 46.09.
The swimmers in the 11- and 12-year-old division were the big winners on Sunday with nine of the 15 first-place finishes. In addition to the record-setting boys 200-yard medley relay, the girls 200-yard medley relay team of Ashley Wilson, Olivia Rand, Alexa Crosby and Sophie Davies finished first in 2:17.37.

Jack Decker and Miles Geddes each earned two individual first-place finishes. Decker won in the 50-yard freestyle in 29.66 and the 50-yard butterfly in 36.22, while Geddes finished first in the 50-yard backstroke in 32.94 and the 100-yard freestyle in 1:04.38.

Alexa Crosby took home top honors in the 100-yard individual medley in 1:16.79 and Olivia Rand won the 50-yard breaststroke in 39.60.

The girls 200-yard freestyle relay team of Ashley Wilson, Alexa Crosby, Olivia Rand and Sophie Davies also took first place in 2:04.72.

There were no winners in the Dolphins’ 13- and 14-year-old division, but in the 15-and-over division, Julia Crosby took home first place in the 50-yard freestyle in 30.44.

The Dolphins’ next meet will be the Southeastern Massachusetts Swim League distance meet on Sunday, Feb. 3 at Marshfield.
